Open Day and Yard-fest

It’s all hands on at Derrylane Flax-Mills when County Derry’s only active linen-weaving-mill prepares to host its Open Day and Yard – Fest. “Ireland’s most spectacular private gathering”, as a Dutch journalist once called it, brings visitors from all corners of the globe to the town land outside Dungiven. They enjoy an unrivalled gathering of the best crafters from these shores; meet designers, artists, spinners, weavers, dyers and textile-workers from far and near. Expect special treats on the programme such as yoga sessions in the garden and cars from yesteryear. Add a healthy dose of fantastic folk musicians from home and abroad and you have all the ingredients to make a great day out for all the family. Fashion Shows

Having been incorporated into the annual Open Day at County Derry’s only active linen – weaving – mill, the fashion show retains its unique character as “Ireland’s only real alternative cat – walk” as a German journalist called it. The new creations in Irish Linen and other natural fabrics by mill owner Marion Baur and guest designers are revealed. To complement the main show, there are also fashion evenings at the mill throughout the year. These evenings are invitation-only so be sure to contact us well in advance to book your place!
